Snowbird Season — When to Book Your NY→Miami Shipment
October–December (Peak Southbound Season): This is the heaviest period for southbound New York-to-Miami traffic. Snowbirds heading to their Florida winter homes pack the I-95 carrier lanes. If you're shipping during this window, we strongly recommend booking 2–3 weeks in advance. Carrier availability tightens in late November and early December, and wait times plus pricing can both increase with short-notice bookings.
January–March (Active Winter Season): A steady flow of southbound shipments continues through the heart of winter as late-booking snowbirds and new relocations move south. Carrier availability is typically better than the October–November peak. January is often a sweet spot — demand has normalized from the holiday rush, and carriers are still running the southbound corridor frequently.
April–June (Northbound Rush): The reverse migration begins as snowbirds head back to New York for summer. Southbound demand (NY→Miami) is lower during this period, often yielding better prices and faster dispatch for anyone still heading south. If you have flexibility, April–May can offer the best pricing of the year on this route.
July–September (Summer): Summer brings military PCS moves and college relocations, but overall NY→Miami demand is moderate. Good carrier availability, competitive pricing. This is also when returning snowbirds who stayed in Florida year-round may ship vehicles north for the summer — the reverse direction picks up significantly.
