Ship a Car to Another State

Reliable Interstate Vehicle Shipping Across All 48 States

Interstate Car Shipping Made Simple

Whether you're relocating for a new job, bought a car online from across the country, heading south for the winter, or moving a college student's car to campus — shipping a vehicle to another state is one of the most common reasons people call Lepke Auto Transport. And we've been doing it since 1991.

Interstate auto transport eliminates the stress, wear, and time cost of a long cross-country drive. Instead of spending days behind the wheel, racking up miles on your odometer, and paying for gas, hotels, and meals along the way — your car gets shipped door-to-door by a professional carrier while you fly to your destination in a few hours.

We handle every step: from quoting your route and matching you with a vetted carrier, to coordinating pickup and delivery windows and keeping you updated throughout transit. All you need to do is be present at pickup, be present at delivery, and let us handle the logistics in between.

Common Reasons to Ship a Car Interstate

How Long Does It Take to Ship a Car to Another State?

Transit time depends on the distance between your pickup and delivery locations. Here's what to expect:

Short Distance

Under 500 miles

1–3 Days

Neighboring states, regional moves

Mid Range

500–1,500 miles

3–5 Days

Multi-state moves, Midwest to Southeast

Coast to Coast

1,500+ miles

7–10 Days

New York to California, cross-country

These are typical timelines, not guarantees — factors like weather, carrier routes, and seasonal demand can affect transit. Your dedicated Lepke representative will provide a realistic window when you book and keep you updated throughout.

2. We Find Your Carrier

3. Pickup Day

The driver arrives at your location, conducts a detailed vehicle inspection with you (documented on the Bill of Lading), and loads your car onto the carrier. You sign off, hand over the keys, and you're done until delivery.

4. In Transit

Your vehicle travels to its destination while your Lepke representative monitors progress and provides updates. If anything changes — a delay, a schedule adjustment — you'll know about it promptly.

Carriers typically allow up to 100 lbs of personal items in the trunk at no extra charge. Items should be below the window line and secured. Anything over 100 lbs may incur an additional fee. Personal items are not covered by the carrier's cargo insurance.
